Yes — our silicone teething toys are made using BPA-free, food-grade silicone and natural beech timber, making them a safe and gentle option for teething babies. All Bowerbird Creations teethers are independently safety tested to Australian standards for added peace of mind.
Silicone teething toys are soft, flexible and gentle on sore gums, making them a popular natural teething remedy for babies during difficult teething stages. They are also lightweight for little hands to hold, easy to clean, durable for everyday use and ideal for sensory play and fine motor development.
Yes — our all silicone teethers (glacial and triplet collections) are freezer safe and can be chilled before use to provide extra cooling relief for sore gums. Many parents find cold teething toys especially helpful during periods of increased teething discomfort.
For teething toys that include natural timber beads or wooden rings, we recommend avoiding placing the timber components in the freezer, as excess moisture and temperature changes may damage the natural wood over time. Silicone-only teethers are best suited for chilled teething relief.
Most babies begin showing signs and symptoms of teething from around 3 to 6 months of age. Around 4 months, many babies also begin learning to grasp, hold and explore objects with their hands. Whether they are actively teething or not, this is the stage where almost everything starts going into their mouths as they explore the world around them.
Our handmade silicone teething toys are designed to support this important stage of infant development by being lightweight, easy for little hands to grip and safe for babies to chew and explore. With a combination of BPA-free silicone and natural beech timber, they provide gentle sensory stimulation while also offering natural teething relief for sore gums.
Many babies and toddlers continue using teething toys well beyond their first teeth, with some still enjoying them up to 2 years of age as new teeth continue to emerge. Teething toys can also provide ongoing comfort, sensory stimulation and a familiar soothing tool during different stages of infant and toddler development.
Chewing helps apply gentle pressure to sore gums, which can help relieve discomfort during teething. Silicone teething toys also encourage sensory exploration, support fine motor skills and provide babies with a safe object to chew and explore.
Our handmade teething toys are thoughtfully designed for modern families who value both safety and style. Combining non-toxic materials, minimalist design and sensory-focused features, each piece is carefully handcrafted on the Sunshine Coast using high quality materials that are both beautiful and functional.
Yes — our teething toys use natural beech timber, which is naturally anti-bacterial and carefully polished using organic olive oil and beeswax. Combined with BPA-free silicone beads, they create a calming, sensory-rich teething toy suitable for everyday use.
Yes — our all silicone teething toys (glacial and triplet collections) are vegan friendly.
However, for teething toys that include natural timber components, we normally polish the wood a polish made from organic beeswax and olive oil to help protect and nourish the timber naturally.
If you would prefer a fully vegan option, we are more than happy to polish the timber using coconut oil instead of beeswax upon request. Simply leave a note at checkout or contact us before ordering.
Some common teething symptoms include drooling, swollen gums, irritability, chewing on hands, disrupted sleep and wanting to bite or chew objects more frequently. Every baby experiences teething differently, which is why many parents look for gentle and natural teething relief options.
Yes — different textures, shapes and materials encourage babies to explore through touch and play. Sensory toys like silicone and wooden teethers can help support sensory development, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills during important infant development milestones.
